Course Description

In recent years, the amount of data available to organizations has reached unprecedented levels. Companies and individuals who can use this data together with analytics give themselves an edge over the competition. In this class, we examine real world examples of how analytics have been used to transform a business or industry. These examples include the Framingham Heart Study, Supreme Court forecasting, Sony, using GhatGPT for a legal use case and the World food program. Through these examples and many more, we cover the following analytics methods: linear and logistic regression, classification and regression trees, random forests, boosted trees, text analytics, and clustering as well as new methods developed by the instructor that combine predictive and prescriptive analytics, optimal predictive and prescriptive trees, personalized medicine among others.
